The scope of occasions in which uniqueness is enforced is called an instance. An instance of occasions is like a world unto itself.
Representing Occasions
INGRESSION OF A SIGN
An occasion may also bear a sign. This sign need not be unique within the instance of occasions. This sign may either become the representation of the occasion that bears it or of some other occasion. This act of representation is called "ingression of a sign".
De Dicto
de dicto is Latin for "about what is said". In ADEPT LION, the occasion that ingresses corresponds to the de dicto sense of the occasion that it ingresses.
De Re
de re is Latin for "about the thing". An occasion ingressed with a sign still had an original meaning independent of that de dicto sense. That independent meaning is the de re sense of that occasion.
